p.s. i'm very new to the whole engine modifying thing so I'm trying to read up and catch what I can.

Re: Cam question

Unfortunately the factory 350 heads won't handle much lift, so that cuts down on your cam selection. Do a quick search and see what everyone others are running.

FYI - I know the ZZ4 & LT4 cams have too much lift for stock heads.

Hope this helps.

Re: Cam question

I am running the ZZ4 (ZZ3) cam on stock L98 iron heads; I used ZZ4 valve springs and "modified" valve retainers to eliminate coil bind and retainer-to-valve guide interference.

What I was referring to by "stock heads" was the entire head... valve springs, etc. Not the physical head. You would have to upgrade your springs. etc as Burnout91 mentioned.

Re: Cam question

Yeah my cam has a .510 int and exhaust lift and in order to keep it I had to upgrade to stiffer springs.

Re: Cam question

Why do you want to change your fuel pump? Is it starving at high RPMS?
What carb is on it now? It might be entirely sufficient for that HP range.

As mentioned, a decent roller cam under 215* at .050 would work well, unless you also plan on changing convertors.
Grinding the valve boss is an easy mod, don't limit yourself on the basis of lift.
