Alum intake install -needs to be cut
Alum intake install -needs to be cut
I just swapped in my race 350 for my 305 in my 84Z. The 350 has a Canadian steel intake and 2 barrel carb (mandated by the rules not by choice). I want to switch it out for edelbrock intake/carb setup i was using on the 305.
The problem is, is that when I built the motor some years back I remember having the heads, block and intake decked and I cannot remember by how much. So this mean I need to get the new intake shaved.
Do any of you know a good method for getting an accurate measurement?
I was thinking about pulling off the steel one and measuring bolt hole to hole.
Thanks for any ideas/help.

Unless you milled everything by a lot (ie. angle milled the heads), it won't be a problem.

You can probably lay it on the heads with a gasket and eyeball it. See if there's an obvious gap. Perhaps try to slip in a feeler gauge?
