Engine shakes when giving her gas
Engine shakes when giving her gas
When I give the car gas, she shakes before she takes off. When she goes, he's not that bad, but when you first give that initial throttle, the engine shakes before catching, and then she goes. Is this a misfire? What could be the problem and how do I fix it? I'm pretty sure there are no vacuum leaks either.

I agree. Before we can all help you diagnose your problem, please just give us a little more info about your car & engine. But....here are just a few possiblities to throw out. Possible broken motor mount, misfire like you mentioned. Chevy's #8 cylinder is famous for leaking after some high mileage. Maybe #8 spark plug is fouled or oiled. Check all just to be sure.
I'm no mechanic though. I'm sure others can help way more than me. Those were just some things that had happened to me over the years. Keep us posted, & get us more info on your car/engine!

Well, it's a chevy 305 V8 with edelbrock 1406 carburetor. I haven't changed anything save for the carb. I switched from CC to non-cc so the computer is no longer controlled by the computer. As far as I can tell there are no vacuum leaks either.
When I went to try her out again today, it makes a strange sucking noise before it kicks up to about 2000 rpm. The engine is shuddering when she idles, but then she stops shaking as if all firing dies, then shakes a whole bunch as RPM increases.
I have no idea what is going on. Should I try a timing light on all of the spark plug wires to check for misfiring?

Have you got your vacuum lines connected properly?
Did you change the distributor with the carb?
