Really there aren't any performance add ons, except that mild cam. Maybe 160hp up from 145hp. Exhaust is desperately needed.

Re: mild lg4 hp and tq numbers?????

depends but i would guess 20-30 HP it isn't going to be a miracle cure...you should get a new intake and gears... then you will be cooking with gas...

Re: mild lg4 hp and tq numbers?????

Put on an exhaust and ditch those crappy cherry bombs, they're restrictive. You'll pick up some torque with a good set of headers, a 3" headpipe, & 2 1/2" tailpipes on a 305ci. Look up Chevy High Performance's 305 Camaro build-up...They did it a few years ago. I think they got about 300hp and 345 lbs TQ outta it. I'm just gonna go with more cubes ala SBC 400ci, he,he,he!

Re: mild lg4 hp and tq numbers?????

I got a little more pep outta mine with the Edel 3701. I'm running my smog stuff. Pulling it won't give me any noticable power difference, just worse gas mileage. I gotta pass Mass smog too. I barely passed with only 79k miles and a few mods. Roller Dyno smog checks are a PITA. CHP's 305 was also smog legal with the CCC Q-Jet, (rebuilt w/ better rods).

Re: mild lg4 hp and tq numbers?????

Exhaust is the single biggest improvement you can make.
headers and full 3", and a dynomax or some good flowing muffler can gain 40HP. Yep, stock manifolds and dinky exhaust is THAT bad.

The intake and carb aren't much of a restriction.

Since we have no idea what car you have, we can't take a guess at what gears are in it. Why don't you go ahead and make use of the sidebar to put in some car info?

Re: mild lg4 hp and tq numbers?????

I think the 3" all the way might be too much for a 305, you might gain a little HP @ high RPMs but its a 305. Torque would be better with a little back pressure from the 2 1/2's..JMO

I disagree. You won't "gain" anything from additional backpressure.

Re: mild lg4 hp and tq numbers?????

Shorties are easier to fit in, usually cheaper, and easier to do single exhaust with

Re: mild lg4 hp and tq numbers?????

i would like to hear how a cherry bomb is restrictive... i mean a real cherry bomb... it is a straight through glasspack... no baffles... a 5in. exhaust with a massive muffler will be more restrictive than 2 cherry bombs off of a set of longtubes... might not be the quitest but it will sure scare the living **** out of any import

Re: mild lg4 hp and tq numbers?????

most cherry bombs that are... lets say 2.5" neck down to 2" inside. So you've got a 2" restriction. If you use a 3" cherry bomb (lets say it necks down to 2.5") on an otherwise 2.5" exhaust, you're fine.

Re: mild lg4 hp and tq numbers?????

i just got a set of cherry bombs... $19.25 with the 3-bolt flange... they didnt plan on anyone running just these off a set of headers did they...

i didnt notice any decrease in ID ah i bought the 4in body which has a 3in ID the 3in body has a 2 1/4 ID

cherrybomb also has thier header mufflers those look kinda small only 2 1/4 id out... seems kinda point less but it might not be that bad
