Shortblock is back!....oh no!..LOL Here I go again!

Ok well I got the shortblock back today......here we go again!...

shortblock is balanced and blueprinted....with racing bearings and balanced to within 1 gram
He degreed my cam according to the spec sheet....I had it retarded 1 degree but was told that wouldnt make a difference anyways..so I just told him to do it to the card.
I asked him is my head gaskets were ok to reuse and he looked at them and told me they were fine to just lightly spray some copper adhisive spray on them....and Im good to go.

well..I'll start the heads and other stuff tomorrow and have the motor in by Sunday!....wish me luck!!!...LOL...you know I'll need it!

Oh on a side note, he just built and N/A 437 small block chevy SB2 motor..i think is what he called it.. that put down 970 on the engine dyno.

Re: Shortblock is back!....oh no!..LOL Here I go again!

that has been school of thought from several... "popular" engine builders in my area... i say that cause the are contracted to build ALL of the pro stock engines for the track near me... all to the same specs.... how does anyone get a legal advantage these days?

but i followed their advice the engine still runs great about 5K later will be tearing it down soon for more upgrades

still waiting for a vid of your engine running without any sound FX

Re: Shortblock is back!....oh no!..LOL Here I go again!

Air will only come out when it is on the compression stroke, which is the one you want. When you feel the air, watch for the mark on the balancer - it should be coming around towards the top. When it is just a few degrees shy of TDC that is where you want to drop the distributor. Also, if you have the valve covers off, after the intake valve (2nd one from the front) closes, the next time the mark comes up is the compression stroke.
