First, why do you need new keepers?

The ones you linked are designed to move the retainer up .050" - you don't need them unless you've got valve travel/spring bind issues. If you do use them, you need to watch your installed force.

Re: which valve locks to buy

its because im sticking a zz4 cam on 081 heads and i heard clearance is very close with that cam so i bought new manley 1.250 in springs and i need to raise them up with either retainers or keepers and i found those and im wondering if the lock style matters or not. the springs are 130# at 1.75 and 320# at 1.20
----------
so in the end my question is will these square groove locks fit on my stock valve stems and retainers to lock them like they should or i need a different locking style?

Re: which valve locks to buy

If you move the retainer up, you are going to decrease the spring pressure too much to use that cam unless you shim the springs accordingly. A stock retainer, with no shim under the valve spring, usually puts the installed height of the spring around 1.80-1.85. If you move the retainer up even more, you will decrease the seat/open pressure even further. That will bring those springs down into the 110 lb seat range, which is too little for that cam. Make sure, if you use those retainers, that you shim the spring back up to get the correct installed height. You absolutely must measure this or you are going to have valve float issues.

i ended up deciding to get the +.050 retainers from manley too. but my new question is if it raises it up .050 should i shim it that much or shim it to factory specs which i heard is a .030 shim on my same combo.

You do not use factory specs because you are not using factory springs, cam, or retainer. You shim until you have an installed height at which the spring pressure is appropriate. In your case, shim the spring to 1.750 and you will be good. That will probably take a 0.050-0.060" shim with stock retainers, or 0.100"-0.110" worth of shim with those +0.050 retainers. Get the comp kit that comes with 16 each of 0.015, 0.030, and 0.090. Don't guess on the install height though, measure it.
