Injector Pulsing Problem
After hooking a noid light up to my car, only the driver side injectors are pulsing. What should i look into? What would cause this?
The car has a 1988 5.0 TPI in it.

Fuses and wiring. The '88 '165 ECM only has one injector driver. The wiring is split exiting the ECM to the left & right banks. There is also a separate fuse for the left & right banks.

The fuses are good. What exactly should I look for in the wiring, a short, broken wire?

Re: Injector Pulsing Problem
First is to discover whether it is the power wiring to the injectors, or the ground wiring to the ECM. Remove all of the injector clips from the injectors. With the key on use a test lamp between each pin and ground (engine block). One of the pins on each injector should have the light illuminating, the other pin should not.
If no illumination on 4 of the 8 injectors then the issue is in the +12 v supply.
If it illuminates on every injector then there is +12 volts to them. WIll then need to check the wiring to the ECM.
For wiring it can be an open wire or a mis-placed pin in the connector (Figuring a retro-fit, there could be a wire misplaced).

There is light at both terminals, and my service manual says that there should be light at both terminals.

Re: Injector Pulsing Problem
Well since both terminals on all of the injectors have power to them, i can say that it is the wiring to the ECM. What wires do i have to check, the ones that come from the injectors and go to the computer, or the the black wires from the injectors that dont go to the computer?

The black wires are to the B+ fuses.
The black w/green stripe is a bank of 4 to the ECM.
The black w/pink stripe is the other bank of 4 to the ECM.
The ECM pins are D15 & D16.
The wire colors may vary from year-to-year, model-to-model.
Interesting that you found power on both terminals, and that the service manual states that is correct. If all the injectors are unplugged there is no path for power to get the the ECM side terminal. The only thing I can think of is that the test lamp current is very low and it is measuring/showing the leakage in the ECM drivers.

Re: Injector Pulsing Problem
The wires from the injector fuses in the fuse block go into this connector which is not hooked up. The odd part is that when my car ran in the past, Im almost positive that this wasnt hooked up then either because the connector that it is suppoesed to go into is not even there. So should this be something worth looking into getting hooked up or not?http://s214.photobucket.com/albums/c...t=DSC02786.jpg
