Couple of questions.
Today I went to change the oil in my car and noticed a wire hanging down on the passenger side behind the crossmember. Can someone tell me what this is? The second picture shows where I think it goes between the number 6 & 8 plugs, but I am not sure. Is there anything missing like a plug or does this wire just push straight in? Any help would be appreciated.
Also, does anyone know the size of the bolts that hold the rubber mount to the back of a 700r4?

Re: Couple of questions.
Could also be the knock sensor wire; that sensor is right above the oil pan, just in front of the starter.
If the wire is dark green, it's for the fan switch. Blue, the knock sensor.

Re: Couple of questions.
Probably the fan switch. You can see the knock sensor wire is still hooked up in the first picture. You can go to the junkyard and snip a good one off a car there, or buy a brand new one w/pigtail from TPIparts.net. Those connectors get broken all the time since they're a squeeze type connector, and they get really brittle over time from being so close to the exhaust manifold. The knock sensor uses the same connector, just a different color. It's white instead of black. They're usually easier to find in good condition on a junk car since they're not exposed to as much exhaust heat compared to the fan switch connector.

Another source for wire parts is www.eficonnection.com Might want to keep it as a backup reference.

Re: Couple of questions.
If it is the fan switch then that would explain why it hasn't been turning on when it gets hot. Although I usually turn the A/C on to make sure it won't get hot in traffic.
Thanks for all the replies I will try to get it fixed soon.

Re: Couple of questions.
Yeah, that totally makes sense. Turning on the A/C overrides the switch in the head. I guess it's a good thing they engineered it that way. At least you still have a way to get the fan to come on.
