swapping cruise control between v6 and v8???

will a carbed v6 cruise control unit work on a v8 305 TBI car???

My idea is i like how newer cars have cruise control controls on the steering wheel, and i happen to have 2 berlinetta's with the controls on the steering wheel, so i figured i'd throw up the idea and see if it was feesable. Thanks

The post-governor units are the same. The cables are different.

Actually the cruise control servo's are different between V6 and V8. The vacuum apply and release orifices are different sizes between units. A 2.8/3.1 needs more throttle, quicker than a 305/350 V8 does to maintain speed, and needs to release slower. A V6 cruise control servo on a V8 will tend to apply heavy throttle and release it, making it surge during transitions. Going from the control on the stalk to the steering wheel should be plug and play.

Re: swapping cruise control between v6 and v8???

ok, i guess it's off to the junk yard to find a cruise control servo for a v8, are all v8 cables going to be the same?? Do i have the hookups at the throttle body or do i have to find a TBI cruise control. As specific as i need to be would be great guys. how hard is it going to be to wire in with all of the stuff cut for the most part??? Like i got the on/off switch from the berly with a 2 foot pigtail, and i have the complete unplugged steering column, just need stuff from underneath the dash to the servo and w/e is under the hood. Is there much calibration?? Thanks for all the info!! I just wanna see if it's worth doing, it's for a daily but i have a heavy foot and the cops don't like me as it is, and i don't feel like paying NY anymore of my hard working dollars.
