I found a deal like this and want to know if it is good. I want to build a turbo motor out of an LS1. I can get the block for $200. It has crap internals but the block only has 70K miles. It will be getting built from the ground up anyways, so that doesn't matter.

Should I even bother getting the heads? They are selling for about the same. I will be running a couple turbos. I want to make about 600 to the wheels. That is the goal. Are the stock heads crap for this kind of application? Thanks

I may be able to talk him down on all the prices but I don't know. The motor was listed at $250 last week and it is now at $200. Please fill me in. Thanks.

This is the same question as on the Engine Swap forum, right?

The price for the block is great. Who cares if you have to tear it down if you are saving that kind of money. I wouldn't use the heads though unless they get a full rework. Even then, I don't think you will get the power you are looking for out of them.. They just won't flow good enough numbers for you.If you are running turbo's you would really want something better as far as the heads. You might want to think about running a Main Cap Girdle. I have found that it is a nice compliment for larger HP engines.

Sounds great. I will pick up the block and leave the heads. Then I will start prowling the net for used aftermarket heads.
Thanks for the advice.

factory ls1 heads outflow anything GM ever made and several aftermarket old school 23 heads. hop onto ls1tech and poke around in their forced induction board.

I had a set of LS1 heads and grant it they are good heads. I don't think it would be the best combination for usage with a turbo.

Other than that, If I found them, I would buy them and resale them and make some good cash
