Just to let everyone know, I finally got the car going last weekend, been driving it ever since.
I think the initial problem was failure of the Accell (tough to believe) coil. Then a multitude of bad-out-of-the-box parts from Autozone kept pointing me in the wrong direction. I broke the magnet in the distributor and had to replace it, but the new ignition module that came with it was bad. I took it back and got a new one, it was bad too. So was the new coil, also from Autozone, so I took it back too. So after finally finding a good ignition module AND a good coil, the car it running.

Things I've learned:
Don't go out of your way looking for problems that don't exist.
Stick with your gut. If the problem should be in certain area, it usually is.
Don't trust "new" parts, especially electronics.
Accell brand may not be the best choice for performance parts.
Autozone parts are bad news, avoid. Its worth the extra money for quality replacement parts.
