Re: rotating assymbly l98
btw... my motor has a balancer on the front but does the internal/external mean the way they balance the kit at the factory or the way the motor is balanced in the car?

Those are the wrong words to use. They will do nothing but get you into trouble. Stay away from them.
The correct word is "stock".
Call them and ask: "can I use my stock L98 flex plate". Yes/no are the only acceptable answers. Buy one that they say "yes".

Re: rotating assymbly l98
im not sure of the exact time the change or the motors that incorporated internal/external balancing. im not even sure which our cars are.
internal balancing is then the rotating assembly is balanced and does not use external weights for balancing on the balancer/flexplate.
external balancing used weights to balance the assembly on the balancer/flexplate.
these kits are extremely different so be careful in which one u choose. also depending on your engine u need to kno if the block is a 1 peice rear seal or 2 piece. the 1 peice rear seal was incorportated in 87 along wiht the factory roller block. but some years differ depending on month, the only way to tell would to look at the block with a visual test. u also need to make sure your block is freshened up... magnaflux, alighn hone, and bored is your cylinder walls are egg shaped or oblong. this is all important bc u will need to specify bore size, crank oversize/undersize etc.
u need to choose when u get a rotating assembly, and if u want a stroker kit then u need to specify everything above etc, external balancing kits require balancing before instalation same as internal balance but require diff flexplates and balancer. 383 requires 8" balancer, 350 requires 6 3/4"
diff balancers can increase dampning of higher RPMs over stock type balancers but doesnt mean u can rev that high... that depends on your rotating assembly, motor setup and block strength.

Avoid the words "internal" and "external". They will do nothing but get you into trouble.
Use the word "stock".
Call them and ask. Ignore the "internal" crap, it is widely misunderstood especially when applied to 87-up SBCs, and will only create confusion. Use the word "stock". Look for "stock". Do not accept any balance situation unless it is "stock", and guaranteed to be able to be used with a "stock", off-the-shelf flex plate or flywheel. "Stock".
