How do you guys think I made out?
I just bought a Complete 86 305 TPI engine mileage is supposed to be around 60-70k Engine was pulled from a Wrecked car. Was running. Looks like ECU is a Reman unit.
Came with Wiring harness ECU, all hoses, Oxygen pump, AC compressor, and some other stuff.
Also Got a Disc Brake back rear missing one caliper and E-brake cables. Don't have the proportioning valve either.
Paid 500 for it all.
Was it worth it.
Just curious.

Pretty expensive rear end; especially if it has Saginaw brakes. I wouldn't have paid $50 for it, let alone $500, unless it had been a PBR rear with 3.23s or better. Complete. Probably wouldn't have paid $200 for it missing all that stuff, and wouldn't have taken it for free if they're Saginaw.
Why did you haul off all the rest of that stuff too?

The guy bought an engine wiring harness and ecu plus a rear end for 500 bucks, I would say you made out pretty good, If it is worth it to you, then hell yes you got a good deal. Especially if the engine runs good.

Wow man, for being a senior member that was a horrible post.

Definately not a PBR Rear. Has Steal Calipers or 1. I poped the cover and it has a limited slip Diff with 3.23 gears. Gears stink but oh well.

Definately not a PBR Rear
Then IMO, definitely not worth it then. Too much to pay for that rear end.
Getting the rest of that .... stuff ..... doesn't really change it. The value of a thing is in what good it can do me; if it does me no good, then it has no value. Maybe a used 305 is of value to you.
It would have no value to me, consequently I wouldn't pay anything for it; not even $1 for the whole lot. Others may feel differently.
It's all a matter of opinion. You asked for opinions, you got mine. I can't feature, in my wildest dreams, paying money for a 305. And wiring harnesses and ECMs and the rest of that are easy enough to come by. But that's just me. Others can give you their opinions as well. Mine is, not a good deal; the rear is not a very good one, and the rest of the stuff is .... stuff. Nothing worth actually buying in it that I can see. You could buy a working car, strip all that, and part the rest out, and the difference between cost and sale could easily be less than that.
But if that's what you want for something, then, well, maybe it's a deal for you. I can't see how though. Enjoy it, whatever you use it for.

Re: How do you guys think I made out?
I do appreciate your opinion. I was hoping that a Disc brake rear would be considered an upgrade from a drum brake Rear. I have been to alot of my local junkyards and some in a neighboring state. All but 2 3rd Gens in the 8 junk yards I've been in have V6 engines in them. One Formula Firebird has a Map Sensor TPI system. It has a Drum Brake Rear. The other car that has a V8 in it is a Camaro, and it is TBI. I haven't found a single Yard that has My generation cars that have Disc Brakes. Disc brake rears seems to be kinda scarce. Not to mention 3rd gens also. Though I know they are around. Plenty of them on the road.
Parts are kinda hard to find in my area.
My plan is to run the 305 TPI for a while. I have a old Corvette Engine that I got for free that is in pretty good shape. I thought I would turn that into a 350 Roller Motor and drop it it my car later. I actually have the 350 Prom and a set of LT1 Injectors I got some time ago.
