305???
i see alot of people asking if they have a 350 or 305 but i want to know if i have a regular 305 or a H.O. engine. The original owner replaced the engine after hitting a huge dear. They have no idea what it is. can someone help me.

You'll need to find the reference or id numbers on the engine. There are a couple of locations to find them from, block, heads, you get the idea. Here's a ref tool to use; http://www.nastyz28.com/sbcmenu.html

The L69 HO wasn't available in 1987, so it's a moot point if just the engine was replaced since you'd be missing a lot of the supporting things that made the L69 an HO.

sorry my internet has been down for a while. actually the driver was a girl and even better the daughter of the local sheirff. lol. the dear didnt destroy the motor but it messed it up and somehow it bent the oil pan in enough to stop the engine. atleast this is what they told me. but i guess i got the answer i need thanx

Oh dear, that's a hell of a problem that he hit that deer. Glad the problem with the dear is resolved though.

If they hit a deer hard enough to need a motor, I would bet the car could have used a pretty good pull on the frame machine. IMHO
