Antifreeze in engine, but no blown head gasket.
Antifreeze in engine, but no blown head gasket.
My 350 has antifreeze getting into the engine, it has been confirmed first by me and then by a mechanic. He also said both head gaskets are in perfect condition. My motor is a jasper refurb with about 7 thousand miles on it. The mods I have made are an edelbrock high flo manifold and runner set, a 58mm throttle body. I have done more things to it but only those could have caused this problem. I need to find out what the problem is pronto. Just ask if you need more info. Thank you.

Might be an intake manifold gasket. There is a test you can do with a non-lit propane torch. Start the motor and run the un-lit torch around your manifold base - if the idle changes, you have a leak. Is water coming out the tailpipes or is there white smoke? I had the same problem and it was an easy fix.

if the water is mixing with oil, the propane torch may not help him at all. It may not be leaking into a runner. I would guess that since the headgaskets are ok, and you did replace the intake, i would start there.

White smoke and water comes out occasionally. There aren't any vaccuum leaks. Checked by that very test and double checked by a different mechanic.

jasper refurbished motors arent known to be good. the best thing you can do is stop driving it immediately and tear it down to find where its coming from it most likely is the intake manifold gaskets or head gaskets.

Got the same problem myself. Compression test came back good. But I have anti-freeze inside the valve covers. So an internal leak somewhere.
Thing is once the engine heats up the smoke goes away, restart it, the smoke is not there. So it leaks down when the engine's cool.
I intend to switch out the intake gasket and run sealer through the system.

Yeah Vorgath,
Same thing that happens when its hot. Mine also stalls out when at low rpm in gear. I don't suppose you have that prob too? Another thing, I have a rebuilt transmission with less than 100 miles on it (because the antifreeze problem). When im driving it to test it out, which I dont do anymore, it makes this knocking sound. Its just one noise then nothing, but it will do it at random times when im driving, it sounds like if you tapped the side of the body with a wrench or something, but from under me, like the motor or tranny. the 2 problems might be connected. Its just becoming a big hassle anyways. I am going to replace the gaskets and seal it all when it warms up. Someone let me know their opinion(s), please.

I don't know about Vipershark but I have installed more than a couple of Jasper engines and you can't get a better quality reman engine. You most likely have an intake leak that occasionally is letting coolant into the cylinder through the intake runner. Don't drive it again until you get it fixed. The knock noise could easily be a trans mount or even the torque arm mount on the trans. I have seen them where the bolts had backed off and it allowed some movement.

Uhmmm hmmm could be a torque converter bolt, that's what happened to me, reason I pulled the engine. The bolt flew out and jammed the starter.
