Clicking noise

To start i have a 92 camaro 305 rs and have had starting problems lately. i took the starter off and cleaned off a whole bunch of corrision on the cables. it started fine for about 3 hours. later on it droped down to about -15 deg f and it quit working. all there is is a clicking noise from the starter. battery is charged and running fine. is there something wrong with the way the wires are put on like a certain order they have to be put on. the starter checks good at murray's. any help please

Re: Clicking noise

You have a bad battery cable replace it and it will get all the power it needs. even though you cleaned the cables you missed some somewhere and its just better to replace the cable and put anti-corrosion stuff on the connectors.

goes from the battery to the starter just follow how your current cable runs

Re: Clicking noise

The negative cable runs straight to the starter. I was going to try and jump it but i don't think that will do any good seeing that it's clicking meeing that power is getting to it.

Re: Clicking noise

The negative cable should go to the engine block. and the positive goes to the starter. If you jump it you'll get the same results as trying to start it with your key.
Power is getting to it but not enough power thats why its clicking.
