Please help!! Im confused!!
Please help!! Im confused!!
Hello all,
I've done many searches that resulted in no help.
Two weeks ago I was working on my fathers 1990 vet. 350 TPI. I re-Installed the plenum and runners. Road tested just fine for two days!
He was driving down the road yesterday and something happened out of the blue!
The car starts & idles fine. Try a little throttle and if falls on it's face! Parked or driving.
I did a quick check and all wires & plugs are connected, no vacuum leaks!
It also sounds like it's sucking air big time, more then normal!
I'm lost! Please help guide me in the right direction.
Thank you for the help!

Re: Please help!! Im confused!!
What should the pressure be about?
Would this cause the problems that I described?
I figured if fuel pressure dropped that low the car would'nt even start.
Thanks again for the help!

The fuel pressure should be about 45 psi with the vacuum disconnected.
Check it under the problem conditions if possible. It is possible for the pump to maintain pressure under no-load then lose it under load.
There may be a simpler solution that those more familiar with TPI could put a finger on.

Thank you for the help! I'll put a gauge on it tonight!
I just spoke with him, he said that when he was driving down the road it made a couple clinking noises and a pop that was it! Problem began.
