cant tell what kind of knock

Hey I just started driving my firebird and I notice this clicking chattering type noise but i can't tell if it is an exhaust leak detonation a valve or a loose rocker. it makes the noise under load certainly can't hear it under the hood. I hear it the loudest in 5th gear because the rpm is the lowest and i have a mechanical fan but it almost sounds the same in a lower gear just harder to hear. this noise is rhythmic meaning it is predictable and not random.
my worst fear is rod knock but i cant hear it at idol so I'm not too worried about that

what do you guys think? any input is appreciated

Re: cant tell what kind of knock

your description could be anything. Its impossible to say, its this, or it isnt that Post a sound clip of the car running with the noise. Is the knock present in all gears? Only under load? While accelerating? Below a certain RPM? A whole lotta more info is needed, and even then it could be anything.

Re: cant tell what kind of knock

Like i said it is there all the time, in all gears it is most apparent in 4 and 5 because i can hear over my mechanical fan. I'm gonna go look for carbon around the manifolds. it is hard to get a sound clop when I only hear it while driving it is not very loud but I can try.

Loose flywheel bolts will make a weird sound.

Any problems with oil pressure?

Re: cant tell what kind of knock

I will have to go hook up the oil pressure gauge to inform you of that. I guess I'll go do that. It is mechanical and I just don't like the idea of 60psi of hot oil shooting out at me.
