oil leak, cant find it

im about rdy to burn this sumbitch........got it running good today.....adjusted the carb and timed with a light........runs great, looked under it to adjust the shifter linkage and ill be darned if they wasnt a puddle of oil as big as a great dane on the floor......it makes no sense because its all on the bottom of the headers, but the bottom of the oil pan is dry......first i thought it was a rear main....its dry..............i did see a little oil on the bottom side of the plugs what time i was under it, maybe the valve cover is leaking and the headers are buring the oil off top but
not hot enough to burn the bottom clean.................anybody have any ideas?

Could it have come from the dipstick? Not having good crankcase ventilation can cause the engine to push oil out of the dipstick tube. You didn't just add a nifty new air cleaner did you?

Re: oil leak, cant find it

This bolt hole goes into the fuel pump rod passage. Is there a bolt in it? If not, put a short one in, with a drop of sealer on the threads.

The one with the circle around it in the pic.

I wouldn't describe it that way, but you might. Doesn't too much matter what you call it though, as long as it has a SHORT bolt in it with some sealer on the threads.
