Bosch ford injectors leaking

Well I've been reading up on this and everyone says to use the gm style o-rings. Well I purchased gm o-rings from Oreillys installed the injectors the same way I did last time and after having it all together the rear injectors were leaking like there wasn't an o-ring there. So I thought maybe the o-ring had come off, but no such luck all the o-rings are still on the injectors. They seem to be somewhat loose tho. Spin around real easy on the injector. What o-rings should I be using? Haven't been able to drive my car in 4 months and this is all that's holding me up now. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Re: Bosch ford injectors leaking

The Bosch injectors are slightly shorter tahn Rocjesters, so it's possible for them to be pushed far enough down into the intake to let the O-ring come out of the fuel rail, especially if the rail sits up a bit too high for whatever reason.

I use replacement TPI O-rings for those injectors in about everything I put them into... I have 2 Cadillacs (a 4.x and a NS) and 2 Jeeps (a c-cyl and a V8) in my driveway, every one of which has Bosch injectors in it with GM O-rings. They all work fine.

Re: Bosch ford injectors leaking

Do your injectors spin easily after there installed? I noticed on mine that they spin around pretty easily after I tighten the fuel rail down.

Yes.

So did all the Rochesters (and others...).

Re: Bosch ford injectors leaking

I'm having this problem too. Are you using the yellow top injectors? My thread on the TPI board, someone suggested that I grind the 4 mounting posts for the fuel rails down so that the injectors would fit better since they're about a 1/4 inch shorter than stock injectors. Problem is, they're still leaking for me. I don't know what to do. If you figure this out, let me know what you did. Thanks.

Re: Bosch ford injectors leaking

Well I'm still having the problem. I tore everything apart made sure the o-rings were on the injectors still, reseated them back in the fuel rail and still a leak. A considerably large leak. Problem I'm seeing is when I seat the right rear injectors in the rail the connector is not able to go on there too close to the fuel rail. Not sure what else to do. Any more ideas? I'm using soresen brand gm o-rings, with yellow top injectors.

I don't know what to say about that.... notch the rail maybe? or maybe just bevel / chamfer it all the way along it so it doesn't look weird? Wouldn't take much.

Re: Bosch ford injectors leaking

Maybe I'll do that. When I first got the injectors they had the blue o-rings on them and they never leaked on me. So I'm gonna order part #17113544 and see if it still leaks with those. And about notching the fuel rail, I didn't have this problem before so I'm not sure what to say about that. I don't know what could have happened to the fuel rail to make the injectors sit in there differently.

Re: Bosch ford injectors leaking

What I did was to use the orings that came with the Ford injectors, but install the injectors into the fuel rail first using those little clips. Of course, oil all orings and also the bung holes. Then, install the fuel rail/injector assembly onto the intake.

If I am not mistaken, there are two slots in the injectors for those clips, I believe that I used the upper ones so that the injectors were not very deep into the fuel rail, but the seal was very good. By doing this, it put the intake side oring deeper into the intake.

Re: Bosch ford injectors leaking

When I ordered these I was being told I could not use the clips with these injectors so of course I did not and now I can't find them so I won't be using them. But like I said It did not leak before when I was using them with the blue o-rings, they have to be a different size. I'll match them up when I get them and we'll see. This is such a tedius problem and it's really beginning to p!#$ me off.

Re: Bosch ford injectors leaking

I had the same problem with the connectors. I notched the rail and they clipped, but I was still also having a pretty large leak. I decided to get a refund from the guy on bought them from on ebay and he's just going to service my original ones for me. I hope that works out since they're the right size and all. If those new o-rings don't work, I would consider doing something like that, because I know how tedious it really is. I've put it all back together about 5 times and it's leaked everytime. Good luck.

I think that you have to use those clips. I believe that you can buy them, maybe someone who reads this post knows where to get them.

Re: Bosch ford injectors leaking

Well I've tried the blue gm o-rings none of the injectors leak except for the #7 injector. I installed them all the same. I remember the instructions saying to place the injectors in between the fuel rail and the intake and evenly tighten the rail down. Well I did that this time but I noticed the #7 didn't sit down as far like the rest of the injectors did. Is it possible the fuel rail is damaged somehow? I've tried moving the injector further into the intake like the others are but as soon as I turn the key fuel leaks out not as much but still a leak. I'm fresh out of ideas. Do I need a new fuel rail?

Re: Bosch ford injectors leaking

Alright I finally solved the problem. I seated the injectors into the intake first as far as they would go then installed the fuel rail. Worked like a charm. You have to make sure they don't get hung up on anything while your tightening the fuel rail down. The first time I did it a couple of o-rings got torn, but the second time I went slow and no leaks. Thanks for all the help and advice, hopefully it will start up with no problems.
