LT4 hot cam pushrod length

I have LT4 hot cam in 96 vortec roller block, vortec heads machined for .600 lift springs. max lift .550 oem style roller lifters. Can I use stock pushrods? I think 7.200 length, but please correct me on length I have tried to measure pushrod with blue tool and adjustable but can't get it right. Scoggins says 7.2 is correct but I want hear from those who have done it.

Thanks

Re: LT4 hot cam pushrod length

Stock pushrods work just fine. Make sure that you put some decent headers on it and a good intake, you should have a pretty honest 400 horses with 1.6 roller rockers. that should get you into the 12s if you have your car set up pretty well, just make sure you put some stall in it too, at least a 2500 otherwise you may have some bog issues.

Re: LT4 hot cam pushrod length

First off, I don't build motors so keep that in mind. It is my basic understanding that you change pushrod length to correct some kind of deficiency in the way the rocker tip contacts the top of the valve. Such as when say the roller tip is not well centered on the end of the valve or wanting to roll off the edge (disaster case scenario).

As I understand things though, the cam would be one of the least likely reasons to pick a different length unless the base circle of the lobes is different from normal. OTOH, lifters, head construction, block milling and rocker arms could all be reasons to use a different length pushrod. So I guess what I'm saying is that you have to consider all these things and not just your cam. Corrections and flames welcome.
