Still Running Rich

I have an '86 305 TPI. I recently put the top half of the motor back together with many new parts. Too make a long story short, my idle drops very low and sometimes stalls when braking, when the motor is warm. I just had the vacuum system completely redone with all new line and the car was put in time, according to spec... But the idle still drops and is goofy. I did have an 02 sensor welded in to the headers (on the driver side). It sits on only one tube (the second closest to the front of the car). Do you think that since it's not at the collector of the headers it is giving the computer a bad signal and causing my problems? If that's not it, the only other thing I can think of is maybe the distributor. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Not a good Idea to sense only the exhaust from one cylinder, the ecm will feed fuel to all cylinders based on that one cylinder.

I can't say that what solved my idle problems will solve yours, but mime vanished when I installed a heated O2 in my SLP headers.

Re: Still Running Rich

Thank you both very much. Where could I buy a "heated" 02 sensor?
