popping noise coming from my console area
ok when i take off from a stoplight or a sign and also when i try to do a burnout my car is making a popping noise and then it grinds. the only things i can think of is tranny mount or motor mount possibly a universal joint... does this sound right to anyone?

Re: popping noise coming from my console area
if this was the case
That's gotta be the single most frequent thing on these cars to break, even worse than the "tach". Just get up under there and look at it. Make sure you have a new one while you're looking. Re: popping noise coming from my console area
ok... dumb question... where is the rear tranny mount located? i looked in my book for it and they aint in there. i looked but didnt see anything that looked like any tranny mount ive ever seen. the only thing i seen at the rear of the tranny is the bolts for the torque bar and bracket.

Yes, that piece right there on the crossmember. Mine on my car was broken when I got it. Replace it with a POLYURETHANE (poly) mount!

You can see it quite clearly here.
