dont laugh at me but...

ok i have a small block chevy 327 from 1966. back behind the distributor there is the crankcase vent and then another little threaded fitting next to it with a piece of tubing sticking up off of it no thicker than a coffee stirrer. no i know i am going to feel absolutly retarded when some one answers me but what is that? my mind is blank. (P.S. i considered getting a new username just to ask this question so no one would associate this with me)

Not quite sure what you're talking about, but the only thing I can think of is for the oil pressure sender, but you're saying it could be remnants of a mechanical oil pressure gauge.

It's what's leftover from a mechanical gauge install.

Re: dont laugh at me but...

the mechanical gauges (if you use a quality one like an autometer) are far more accurate than the electric gauges. you can also see more flucuation in the pressure with the mechanical.
