Go to a gm dealership or scour ebay for a few minutes?

Does your car have clamshells on the subframe?

TGO is not a dealership or parts store. That's just a phone call away if you want actual part numbers.

I'm not aware that there ever has been a left or right motor mount. There's a top/bottom.

why not just go to the parts store and tell them you need mounts for it? Unless you are referring to the engine bracket portion. In that case, you may as well go a junkin. I priced them at a gm dealer once and they were like 97 dollars. I got em at the junkyard for 5 bucks.

I looked in classic industries catalog and even called them and talked to there tech guy, he actually pulled the mounts out of stock and measured them and he said there is a difference , there are several places that i looked and they were different, I have been to 3 gm dealerships and got 3 different answers. IT IS DRIVING ME NUTS

are you trying to keep a standard small block V8 in there?

I know my buddy has a 82 and another with an 83 and i dont think their motor mounts were any different. I can ask him tho.

I just looked up Engine Mounts on murray's discount auto parts website.
Same mounts for both the 83 v8 Camaro as the 86 V8 Firebird.
Honestly I don't think they changed them from 82-90 for the V8.

If you're talking about the engine side of the mounts, there was a thread about the left & right thing, with p/n's, a couple of years ago.

I believe the engine side was used across product lines for SBC's in the 3rd gen years. I know the mounts on my '84 full-size van are the same thing.

hey look go to any parts store you want frames mounts for a 78 malibu with a v-8 these will work with the standard shells the only thing is you have to use the foward mounting holes and the small block sits there like it came from the factory most of us f-body guys pit a small tack weld around the third hole ,i did mine with a little arc welder i bought from sams club ,its nice and clean and looks professional it that or get a motor plate and thats to much trouble ---------------------------------big zeke 355 cid 92 bird

No, I'm not. And, I already answered.

The engine half of the mounts are different side-to-side.

What I've never been able to determine is why, and if it matters. One side has the ears spread out a little and the other doesn't. The holes all appear to be in the same relative place.

But, for whatever reason, they are different parts.

Yes, this is a 3rd gen board, and we have this nifty thing called a function. Before taking us to task in your subject line, try using it.

Guess how I found the link above?

On my '82 mounts (which I just packed for use by another member), the left or driver's side is marked with 334971 and the right or passenger side is 039436.

Great. Now I have to pull my engine to see if mine are reversed...
Right after I build the exhaust.
And get insurance.
And get a tag.
how much was that 93 octane gas again?

if they are in place and everything is bolted up, why would you bother changing them?

exactly.... if it fits, and everything lines up, who cares if the bracket on one is 2mm bigger than the other?

Thank you for reinforcing my sacrastic point. If 95% of sbc people never knew they were different part numbers, have been bolting them on since 1971, and they obviously work on either side, does it really matter that much?
It's almost as good as a "my car is more 'numbers matching' than yours" thread.
Here's an idea: can you actually drive your car or is it just another object in a "collection"?
Fortunately, TGO is not crawling alive with "collectors".
Toys are no fun unless you can "play" with them .
We play with our toys .
and no, I'm not pulling my engine.
