oil pressure is high
i looked around for related problems but couldn't find any. For a while my car was overheating...just got the problem fixed and the oil pressure is a bit high. It sits at about 50-60 when it used to be at 30-40. Is this a problem or just something thats normal now that its summer?

Re: oil pressure is high
maybe something got a little clogged like your pushrod tubes or any small hole when the motor got hot and some of the dirt came loose in your oiliing system
right before you change your oil next time take the oil filter off and dump it out
fill the filter to the top w/trans fluid screw it back on the block and run it untill it gets good and hot 180-210
turn your idle up to about 1500 rpms and run the motor for 5 min
dump the oil and change the filter

Re: oil pressure is high
Oil is going to get thinner with higher tempuratures. Was the oil pressure lower when overheating or always like that? As long as the oil gets changed regularly you should be good. The oil pump has a bypass spring in case to much pressure builds, and the pressure is good still. If you are still worried, you could try swapping another sensor. It can get clogged easily and can give false readings.

Re: oil pressure is high
the first thing you should do is verify oil pressure with a mechanical guage... as high oil pressure isnt nomally caused by an overheating engine it also isnt a symptom of a clogged oil pressure sending unit it just isnt how it works
if your oil pressure truly is that high i would suspect some type of internal damage

The polymers in the oil to make the 10w to 30, get thicker with heat. Some 10w-40 oils in RV's would turn into a gel if gotten too hot. Dump that oil. Do the ATF clean and pressure should be back to normal.

Re: oil pressure is high
your right oil will get thicker with heat TO A POINT then it thins... it isnt going to turn the oil into jello and it certainly isnt going to remain like that after it cools...

Re: oil pressure is high
This gel issue is with the 10w-40 oil in the RV's and it did stay after cooling.
If the OP was using the 10w-40 oil, this was just a thought about the higher temps and the higher oil pressure. If it is gelled it should be real easy to tell. If not just move on to the next idea. NBD
