valve seat/ lapping question

So, I just lapped all of my valves on one head and then did a CC check of the heads to ensure they are where I needed them to be (I already had to deshroud and such to make them 65 cc's from 62). On the first chamber I did I went out to smoke real fast before removing the water and when I got back I noticed the water had gone down a little bit. Both ports had a little water in them, so I cursed a lot and then lapped the valves again. Now the Exhaust valve doesn't leak at all any more but the intake still has a drop or two in it after sitting with water in the chamber for about 20 minutes. Could this just be because the motor hasn't ran yet and the valves are not fully seated (I know rings take awhile to seat)?

I wouldn't trust a "leakdown" on your valve seats to be a true test of your lapping skills. How did the witness mark look from the lapping compound?

Re: valve seat/ lapping question

There's no pressure holding the valve closed aside from gravity during your test right? If the marks are good, i'd just run it.

Re: valve seat/ lapping question

oh! Ok then i'd get back to lapping. With the spring force it should hold that closed solid. Either you're missing a spot on the valve seat, or there's a crack or something

Re: valve seat/ lapping question

All is well so far. I read a post by sofa that metioned using a drill and that seems to have fixed it. I have one head done with no leaks and am moving on to the next.

Also I think I was using way to much compound as I seem to have missed to part about using a dab not a full heavy coat LOL.
