Whats the next logical step for HP

WHat would be the next logical power adder?
My sbc is a 350 4 bolt main, that has been rebuilt and been bored .30over and balanced with upgraded
intake, carb, headers, cam, timing chain, lifters, and just yesterday i bought an accel super coil with cap and rotor, along with all new plugs wires and filters. exhaust is in the works im still researching it with deep pockets for this part of the car.

Re: Whats the next logical step for HP

here we go, age old question what makes more power, stock cam and aftermarket heads, or stock heads and aftermarket cam, while most people go the aftermarket cam and stock head route because its cheap, it be better with the head route, or best of all better aftermarket heads and cam.....so now my rambling is done go get ya some aftermarket heads, ill recomend some if you can answer me a cpl questions, what intake ya got, what compression ratio are you running now, and what heads do you currently have...

Re: Whats the next logical step for HP

dont want to sound like a jerk but upgraded doesnt say much for anything....with the info u give its hard to help what is upgraded about the heads, are they just some port and polished stocker smog heads, if so i really suggest spending 800 bucks on a set of patriot performance head your compression will go up and you will flow alot more air, because i dont care what people say u can take the best ported and polished double hump heads and they still wont perform as good as the pat performance ones....

Re: Whats the next logical step for HP

that 800$ would be better spent on my big blocks though those heads are a pretty penny, although i am willing to spend a good amount of money on parts such as exhaust that stays with the car and will be compatible with a big block should i decide to put it in. 83 Trans am btw.

Re: Whats the next logical step for HP

well you dont give much information... you seem to cover all the basics at this time but the details are left out

Tell us exactly what heads cam intake/etc etc you are running and we can go from there

If you upgraded heads/cam and stuff then what do you think your current hp level is?? if you want more, work on the tune. IF that doesnt give you enough, the only things to work on then are the intake/heads/cam.

Re: Whats the next logical step for HP

ill post all the stats on a new post once i run the 1/4 mile the car will FINALLY be done this weekend but still need to get paint on. and as for nitrous i dont believe in it unless you were building a drag car for the strip only, other than that the only power adder id go with would be a blower or turbo, that way when you say the car has 600hp it has 600hp.

Re: Whats the next logical step for HP

yeah but here is the benifit of nitrous.....u have 600hp on blower, constantly, so u constantly use all that fuel. 450 hp motor uses less fuel then u spray 150 shot of juice when u need it (along with the extra fuel) and u have a fun car that has plenty of ***** and gets better gas milage......l myself am looking to get my 290ho motor up to 350hp and then have a 100 shot of spray....nitrous has a bad name cause of idiots. and alot of older guys call it cheating, but if u want to be logical its one of the most cost effective and efficient methods of power gaining specially from a cost/power ratio....WHEN DONE CORRECTLY thats the key....and i am aware that if u want to be spraying all the time it loses some of the savings, i know N2O aint free everything has its flaws but N2O sure is cool...

Re: Whats the next logical step for HP

i like having all of my horse all the time especially when the ford or import thinks they can back u down. Not everything has to make sense if i was a logical person i would have a 90 300zx twin turbo good mileage if u dont pin it and easy to get 400hp, i may have to buy one with the price of gas now thojk but i found one for 7 thousand$$

Re: Whats the next logical step for HP

lol i respect that but is it really so hard to flip a switch lol....but anyways sounds like there isnt really anything u can do to your motor, nothing is free and almost anythin u do spend money on will not be transferable to a bbc motor....so the next logical step for hp would be pull the sbc and put in the bbc....
