hi i have a 91 rs with v6 it idles and revs fine when in park.
but once you put it into any gear it shakes horribly and idles really low.

also when i try to accelerate it moves but has no power to actualy
accelerate. i can get up to 40 or 50 mph but it takes like 30 seconds.
like something is holding it back

Sounds like you've got a weak or misfiring cylinder or cylinders. Any recent tune-up? Any "service engine soon" (SES) light? Has it had regular maintenance, such as oil changes? Has it been abused?

 

yes the service engine light does come on. i changed the oil yesterday
and im changing the plugs today. i dont think it was abused i bought it from on older lady in her 70s the car only has 90.000 miles on it

 

Throw it in first, pull the e brake and check for spark on all cylinders. Probably just needs a new set of plugs and wires, Make sure you replace the coil wire and check for any corrosion within the ignition system.

 

Ignition won't trip a SES light. So, pull the codes being set to see what you might be up against.

 

im thinking it has something to do with the transmission or torque converter
because it only runs horrible in gear. i changed the plugs, vacume lines and the oil. and the codes came up with nothing just code 12 over and over again.
which means nothing. so what is the easyist way to tell if your tourque converter or transmission is dying.
