Stumbling Problems

I have an 87 Camaro with a 305 (its the roller motor) and I have recently done a few things to it. I put in a new cam, intake manifold and carb on the car. I recently got the car running great no problems at all. I drove it for a night with zero problems and ran like a dream and came home and parked the car. The next morning I was going to head to a friends house and I cranked the car up and it idled just fine. I started off and the engine was stumbling real bad. There was black smoke coming from the exhaust. I got the car back into the garage and I think I may have narrowed it down to a vacuum leak but I am not so sure.

My question is what else could possibly cause this stumbling. It idles great but when I apply gas even at idle the car begins to stumble. I am just lost now and not sure where to start looking. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Stumbling and black smoke do not equal vacuum leak. Sounds more like the choke stuck closed.

First thing I'd do is remove that Triangle of Death from the top of the carb - horrible part, no 3rd gen has ever done anything so bad to deserve it.

What did you remove to put that Edelbrock carb on there?
