Car won't start after minor work

I am working on an 87 Trans Am with the 350 TPI. The car was running rough especially around 1200-1500 RPM and was low on power so I checked a few things over, I only had 30 PSI of fuel pressure, I swapped the fuel filter and now have 50 psi. I figured I was on the right track I then changed only the distributor cap and rotor after which the car will not start. I have spark, and as I mentioned earlier I have fuel but I'm lost as to where to check next.

Re: Help

Relax, thread title police. What a nice first impression.

As for your problem, I would backtrack to the cap and rotor. If it ran before that, but not after, that is quite a clue.

489CID, welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

Now, about editing: the thread title can only be edited by mods & admins. Which I have done. For future reference, a descriptive title is helpful. But, let's not bang on people (especially new or relatively new members) on the public forum.

Okay, to your problem: Agree, recheck the last work you did. It isn't hard to get one terminal off when putting spark plug wires on a new cap. If you can't figure it out, I'd offer to come by and take a look at it, but I really can't promise I'll be able to do that.

Re: Car won't start after minor work

That's it I pulled the cap and rotor twice. Rechecked everything and I''m still stuck I am going to recheck again tonight when I get home and see if there is anything I missed. I was just wondering if there was any thing I could have inadvertantly unpulgged that would have caused this.

Check the plugs that go into the ignition module at the bas of the distributor. Also, triple check the firing order.

Re: Car won't start after minor work

Problem solved, one of the wires that goes into the distributor module has a small break in itwhen the wire was in a certain position the car ran (badly) if not nothing happened.
