Re: can someone show me a rocker arm install guide?
I found a basic guide in a chiltons manual, but it is for a motor with a balancer. This motor has no balancer (internally balanced) and as such, I cannot line up any marks to determine tdc. I cannot spin it fast enough by hand to build up any real pressure either.. is there another method?

1. Pull the valve covers off. I believe it's about a 9/16 socket to remove the old rocker arms.
2. After you have those pulled off, put the new ones on. (don't forget assembly lube on pushrods and valve stem tips)
3. Install rocker *****. (again assembly lube)
4. Put on the nuts.
5. Start the long process of adjusting valve lash. (FOR HYDRAULIC LIFTERS)
A) Start from the beginning with #1 cylinder. Turn engine over until the pushrod for the exhaust is up.
B) Tighten the intake rocker nut until the rocker just about touches the pushrod.
C) Slowly tighten nut while rotating the pushrod between two fingers, when you feel a bit of resistance while spinning the rod. STOP
D) Give the nut an extra 1/2 turn for hydraulic lifters.
E) Turn over until intake is up and exhaust is down.
F) Repeat B-D
G) Repeat for each cylinder.
You might want to pull the plugs or you'll have a fun time trying to turn it over.
If you are installing a new cam, you might need to give a bit more than 1/2 turn to account for cam/lifter break in.
This is what I did on my engine with roller rockers. I have not got it in the car yet, so if I am wrong in any little way please let me know.

Re: can someone show me a rocker arm install guide?
think i got it right..
and unless you are speaking of the weights on the flywheel, then you are incorrect.. the motor has no harmonic dampener/balancer in the way that most motors have.. the crank pulley bolts pretty much directly to the crank.. the motor has run for 3 years that i know of with no harmonic balancer, the factory timing cover has the timing tabs located about 2" from the crank itself (unless perhaps it had a 4" balancer factory), the flywheel is weighted, and there is a balance shaft-like device installed from the factory..
if i am missing things, please let me know... just going by what i see, not trying to **** anyone off.

Post a picture of it if you can, because what you describe is most definitely not a small block chevy.
