The 400 Engine
Well, here's a couple of pics of my current engine that is ready to go in as soon as the correct flexplate comes in. I am more than ready to get this thing on the road that's for sure, I've been working on it since late spring and just when you think you have things covered other stupid things rear their ugly heads, wrong flexplate, different starter, no holes drilled and tapped for my power steering bracket on the lower drivers side, 1 bad rocker stud, and waiting 7 weeks to find the correct pistons I needed to put this together, so hopefully I am past the worst of it and I will have a good fire in the hole and nothing disasterous.

Nice. Lots of good parts and the potential to make some serious horsepower.

Re: The 400 Engine
A couple of desktop dyno sims have shown 450-475 horse and 480-510 torque, that ought to be enough to get my Z-28 moving. I am really getting anxious since I am sooo close to getting this thing wrapped up. I will let you know how it runs when I done.

Nice engine. My fingers are crossed that nothing else goes wrong for you. It sounds like you have had enough problems already.

Re: The 400 Engine
Well here's the update on the car and engine. I got the engine in and was ready to start it Wednesday, hit the key and I get nothing out of the starter. Turns out I have a wire in the wrong place, fix that and try again to start car. I couldn't the thing to fire on all 8 cylinders to save my life, spent the next three evenings after work trying to figure it out. Everything under the hood for iginition is brand new but it would not fire, turns out to a coil not compatible with the distributor, put a different coil on and she fires right up albeit shaking like a banshee. Now it looks like the balancer I bought for a 400 does not work, another bad buy, so tomorrow I put a stock 400 balancer on to see if that cures it. I have to say though, that bad boy sure sounded good and strong. I'll let you know what I find out. Here's a couple of pics.
