Oil pressure switch?
What are you talking about here? The part that screws into the block at the back of the lifter valley, the oil pressure sending unit ? That takes a wrench (right below the "bell" part), or you could use a small vice grips or pipe wrench.

But oil pressure... switch?

Oil pressure switch - for the in-tank electric fuel pump, typically located above the oil filter.

Go to www.partsamerica.com, seach for "socket oil pressure switch". I can't tell you off the top of my head which size you need (my Camaro doesn't have it).

Re: Please? Oil switch tool?

It's called a switch or sender unit depending on who you talk to.

It's the piece that screws in right above the oil filter.

I spent ages trying to get an adjustable wrench on it (the nut seems pretty oversized!, maybe 1-1/8th)

I can just about get it on the nut (I think) but then there is no cleareance to turn it at all cos the wrench is so big....and of course adjustable wrenches are kinda sh*tty anyway.

I bought a set of closed ended wrenches JUST for this and the 1" is still too small....

Think I should go and spend MORE money on this retarded job for a 1-1/8th closed end wrench?

I had to replace it on my Bonneville a few years ago. I picked up the new part, asked for the socket at the same time, then went home and tried to figure out where it was on the engine.

I use Parts America a lot in order to be armed when I show up at the parts store.

Re: Please? Oil switch tool?

I am usually pretty well prepared but NO ONE mentioned a socket before or after I started this until you!
I am gonna tell my parts store they SHOULD be mentioning this when someone buys the switch/sender!

Damn, nice one five7. I totally forgot about oil pressure being needed to run the electric fuel pump. Brain fart!
