"fuelie" heads??

as title reads my friend has "fuelie" heads.. came off a 327 selling for 100 bucks. fully assembled, he says there are no holes on the heads for mounting the alternator.. my question is .. if they sell an adapter to fit these style heads on a later engine.. that requires holes on the heads for mounting the alternator..

Re: "fuelie" heads??

Pass on them. Not good heads for your use - not that you can use them anyway due to the lack of accessory holes.

They really aren't worth the hassle... They can be made to make some power but they are ancient. The only factory GM heads I'd buy are Vortecs.

Re: "fuelie" heads??

30+ year old heads with 30+ year old technology. There are far better modern factory and aftermarket heads which can out perform those old heads for a lot less money and they'll be a better casting right out of the box.

Leave those old heads for someone who needs them because they have to run correct casting numbered heads. You can probably pick up a good set of aluminum heads for less than what it will cost to get those heads up to scratch. Even if they were given to you, they're not worth it unless someone has already spent a lot of money doing them up.

Re: "fuelie" heads??

thanks alot for the input guys/gals..
i appreciate it.. i was just trying to look for something other than my stock heads.

if i could modify my current heads up to aftermarket standards i could do that.. i just dont want to be spending 700 dollars per head.

ill pass on them, you all know what you are talking about.

as for igotta355z28 yeah that IS the crowd i hang with lol .

there are like NO other third gens here in southplainfield nj i could roll with..
plus they are 2 of my best friends so youll have to excuse the one in the focus cuz he dont know better.. and the civic.. well.. i had one .so i cant say nothing about it, i still love my honda.. but just as much as my camaro

Re: "fuelie" heads??

Port up your 416 heads. I put about $400 into my set. They run pretty good on my 350.

Re: "fuelie" heads??

hmm. port match them up with the gasket... i kinda dont want to mess with the intake side.. im afraid i will polish it up a little tooo much and screw with "atomization".. so i think ill just port match the exhaust side. and polish it up real nice..
thanks for the advice you are all very knowledgeable.. this is a great forum to be a part of...

Hey, dem's my heads you're talkin' about!

And I'd like to add that everything they say is true...
Including the valve seats not being compatible with unleaded gas.

Re: "fuelie" heads??

Yep,pretty terrible heads those "fuelie" heads.
Such junk, they even forgot to put accessory holes in them!
But if anyone has a pair,I will buy them as long as they are cheap!
And if anyone has a good 4 bolt main 400 block, better sell it too me too!
Everyone knows they are way weaker than the 2 bolt main blocks and it will just crack.
hehe.
