IAC Valve
I changed my IAC a while ago. I just screwed it into the throttle body. Some people have told me that I need to set/adjust it. Is this true? If so How do you set/adjust it?

Re: IAC Valve
The car had a hesitation before I changed the IAC and it still does. Is this setting a must do when changing the sensor?

Re: IAC Valve
if by sensor you are reffering to the IAC valve then yes you do need to adjust it..and check the OHMs on your TPS sensor....make sure to check that the TPS's ohms arent jumping around it when you open it to WOT the resistance should steadily and smoothly increase..if the resistance isnt steady then you in fact have a faulty TPS sensor
Re: IAC Valve
I do not think you can 'adjust' the IAC. I believe it will automatically readjust when you are running the engine. I think the ECM will close the IAC when the car is started and then deal with it as needed. There are some indications that the engine might need to be run for a few minutes to properly function after it has been removed and replaced.

..stupid me I worded that incorrectly...yea the IAC adjust itself..but you need to adjust your idle when you first installl the new one (read this page http://www.iroczone.com/techartidle.html )....the computer needs to recognize the new part so it may take a few minutes of driving and clearing the ecm by unplugging the battery for about 5 min....like ive stated before yoiu should take an voltmeter and check your TPS sensor as well..loosen the TPS until you can move it up or down slightly and then turn the key to "on" position but dont crank it, then insert the positive and negative leads into the tps sensor and adjust the position of the sensor until youre at the sensor's spec resistance...then tighten the tps in the position where it was closest to spec...now you should be closer to being done and crank it up and see if it idles correctly.... First you have to determine which type you have because each type retracts differently.
- Retract the valve completely into the IAC motor body.
- Install IAC valve in throttle body using new gasket. Torque IAC valve to 13 ft. lbs.
- Connect IAC valve electrical connector.
- Start engine and allow to reach operating temperature.
- The ECM will reset the valve when the engine is started, then the ignition is switched off.

Re: IAC Valve
I just removed, cleaned and replaced my IAC and the steps were the same as 'rgarcia63' states. When I started the car it was a cold engine. It idled at a normal cold idle speed (a little high) and the engine gradually came up to normal running temperature. The engine speed dropped as you would expect but the idle seemed a little higher than what I would normally experience for a warm idle (it was). I shut the engine off for about 30 seconds and decided to see where it would idle when I restarted it at normal running temperature. When I started the engine it quickly went down to the idling speed I normally experience. All subsequent restarts did the same (idled well in my opinion).

Nest and Hair My sister, a primary school teacher, was informed by one of her pupils that a bird had built its nest in the tree outside the classroom. "What kind of bird?" my sister asked. "I didn't see the bird, ma' am, only the nest," replied the child. "Then, can you give us a description of the nest?" my sister encouraged her . "Well, ma'am, it just resembles your hair. " dyestuff
