WONT START!!!!
ok so i started my car and drove to school yestarday car started fine drove it home afterschool started fine went to leave the house and then you could hear the starter catch the flywheel then it just clicks i searched on here and came to the conclusion that my starter must be bad because i know the battery is good so it took the starter off and bench tested it and it worked perfect so i checked all the cables that are connected to the starter and they are all fine the ground is also good so i figured it would have to be the battery so i took it out and put it in my truck and it works perfect i checked the voltage and it say's 13 volts
what could be wrong???? this is a 1984 camaro with the 305 HO so no vats so i have no idea can anyone help??

Re: WONT START!!!!
The problem is the starter is not being tested under load. If you think your cables are OK, I would get a new starter.

Re: WONT START!!!!
Remanufactured is all your going to be able to get. Get one with a lifetime warranty. I'm pretty sure that a generic reman is going to be expensive for that car. Look online at vato zone or whoever is close.

Re: WONT START!!!!
ok so before i dropped the money on a starter i took the starter to autozone and they tested it and said it was good so it changed my negative battery cable to make sure i had a good ground and also tried a known good battery now the starter acts like the battery is almost dead when it has a full charge but now it doesen't click it catches the flywheel the turns really really slow for like 2 and a half seconds then stops like the battery is dead

Re: WONT START!!!!
Are you sure the starter lined up with the flywheel good?
Try to start it with jumper cables. Also just to check try to turn the motor over with a breaker bar to make sure it's not locked.

Re: WONT START!!!!
nope but i switched out the battery with a known good one out of the daily driver and the starter stopped clicking and just barely turned the motor over for like a second then it acted as if the battery was dead but i stuck it back in the daily driver and it fired right up

Re: WONT START!!!!
its an inline six but i checked the battery voltage with a volt meter and it said 13.85 volts even though the battery is made for a v6 it should still be able to turn over my engine just a little i would think
Re: WONT START!!!!
well since i seem to have the same problem this is what i found out if i recharge my battery im garenteed maybe 10 decent attempts to turn over the car. other then that i just get like 1 nudge per a second. BUT if i get a jump it will go all out, and usually start. maybe u should try toget it jumped?

Re: WONT START!!!!
Go ahead and try to jump start it. Check connectors on both ends. The battery cable can rott from inside out and might look ok but would be bad.
