2.8 parts
Theres a guy selling a bunch of 2.8 parts for like 50$. I asked what he took it out of and he said an 85 s10. Will these parts work on my 86 firebird?
Parts include alternator, starter, water pump, oil pump, power steering pump, exhaust manifolds, coils, two distributors and some other small stuff.
I mostly want to know if the starter will work.
Thanks in advance

I don't know if your library has these but in the reference section of the main branch here in Fresno they have a set of interchange manuals that tell you what parts off of what cars will work on your car.
I hope his parts will work for you that's a great price.

well, I think that's the first time I've ever heard anything Fresno described as 'fancy'.
The library here is actually open tomorrow (1pm to 6pm) so if you still need to know I'll go look it up for you.

Those motors are the same block with a different intake.
The starter should work.
edit-
I also checked the part numbers at autozone.com and they list the same part number.

Re: 2.8 parts
Winchester, Toehead is right the starter will work, and his solution (looking up the part #s at Autozone) was so much easier...
Anyway, according to the 'Holland Interchange Manual' the starter will work, the alternator might depending on how many amps the alternator in your car is - Hollands lists 7 (!) different alternators for your car they are a: 42 amp, 66 amp, 78 amp, 85 amp, 94 amp, 120 amp and the 97 and 108 amp which are the same as far as swappability.
The water pump won't work. The power steering pump and the oil pump I didn't look up. The exhaust manifolds - Hollands says the left side might - it says the 86 thru 93 S10 w/o heat stove. The distributor wont work and the coils I didn't look up either.
But then I'm sure you can just do what toehead did and look it up at Autozone. Good luck.
