Next step...

I have an LG4 with full exhaust, performer intake, Eddy 600 cfm carb and 2.73s. I have about $100.00 or so to get whatever and I cant decide. I am thinking about a budget cam swap to maybe the xe256 or possibly getting a new converter but am leary of that because of my gear.

For converter I am think the Sizzler from TCI. Not much improvement but better than my stock converter? So whats your opinion?

Re: Next step...

I would say try and find a posi rear end somewhere that has a better gear ratio anything from 3.23 to 3.73 depending on what you do with the car and put that in. Just my input, i went from 2.73s to 3.73s, probably one of the best things ive done to the car yet. That will throw your speedo off tho, so you will need to buy the right gears for the trans to correct it. Eveything has hidden cost.

Re: Next step...

I'd say rear axle swap. Around here, you can get an entire rear assembly for under $100, and have enough left over for 2 bottles of gear lube and a rear cover gasket. If you have rear drums, my personal favorite is a rear from a '90-'92 V6 Camaro or Firebird with auto trans. Auto isn't as hard on things as a stick, likewise the V6 versus a V8 rear end, but even the V6 cars had the 28 spline axles by then, and the larger 7.625" ring gear. Later, you can add a conversion locker. With a 700R-4 and a 26" tire such as a 215/65R15, you'll have 2000 rpm @ 65 mph.
