Pontiac intake question

I have a 1969 pontiac 350 with the stock intake in it, and a local junkyard just received an '81 trans am with a 403, with an edelbrock aluminum intake on it. Will this intake fit on my 350?

No, the 403 is an Olds motor.

Then it's probably not a 403. Does it have the trademark Olds oil fill tube on the front? It might be a Pontiac 400. Take a look here: http://www.angelfire.com/fl4/pontiac...ds403infl.html

Re: Pontiac intake question

I didn't think a 400 was available in '81. But then again i'm not that interested in 2nd gens. I'll have to go check it out again.

Re: Pontiac intake question

The Olds 403 also wasn't available in the Trans Am in '81. The last year for the 400+ cu.in. engines was 1979. The only Pontiac produced engine available in 1981 was the short deck 301 engine and no aftermarket companies ever tooled up an intake for that engine. It sounds like this junkyard car has had an engine swap.

If your '69 350 has a stock 4-bbl carb intake the Edelbrock intake is going to perform the same(if not worse) than the original. The pre-1975 factory intakes were about as optimised as it gets.

Re: Pontiac intake question

No, i have a 2bbl intake. So, since it is a pontiac intake, it isn't the original engine in the car... , which means the car most likely has a manifold that will work on my motor, or the motor is a 403. Guess I'll find out tomorrow.
