PCV Valve Selection

I know the PCV valves work depending on their vacuum signal but how do you go about picking one for a completely new, non-stock application?

I just grabbed one that looked the part, size wise, for my application but other than that it could be open all the time or never open at all...

I can throw all the motor specs out there if anyone actually knows how to pick one out but it is not running yet so I do not know how much vacuum I pull.

Just use a stock one and don't worry about it too much.
