Having same problem. Car produces white smoke

I just finally got around to replacing my intake manifold gasket in the upper phenom and got it all put back togather. Bought a $90.00 12v battery and started it up. It's been sitting for 2 months and at first choked out. But then turned the key again and ran fine. Turned the car off and on agian and white smoke keeps comming from the back of the engine; closet to the firewall. The car seems like it's idoling but not too rough and when i let it sit the rpm drops below idol (1000 rpm). I did however put in "high perform oil" while other oil was in it so it got mixed. Could that be a cause? The smoke doesn't smell like gas but has a oder. Agian it's cloudy white smoke but not visibal where exactly it's comming from.

Re: Having same problem. Car produces white smoke

White smoke is almost always caused by burning coolant. The smell is usually a "sickly sweet" smell, makes me nauseous if I smell it too long. My guess is you sloshed coolant onto the exhaust system when you took the intake manifold off. Now that you are starting the car up, its burning off the hot pipes. Check your coolant level and keep a close eye on it. If it's not going down any, you should be fine. Once the car cools down, feel around the back of the engine as best you can and check for wet spots. Better yet, crawl under the car with a flashlight and look around at the back of the block/heads and see if anything is leaking.
