Oil pan swap
Oil pan swap
I own a 1988 Iroc-z. Its my first sports car ever, and I am doing a small restoration on it. I need to swap on the oil pan, and being this my first car of this category, I asked a buddy how to go about it and he told me i would have to pull the engine. Is that right? When I was looking, it seemed that I could almost swap it out without having to pull the engine. Can someone clarify for me please. Also, what is a good brand to go with for an engine rebuild kit for a chevy 305?

Re: Oil pan swap
You dont have to pull the motor. You got to remove the motor mount thru bolts and jack the engine way up so you can slide the pan out. You do have to remove other stuff also to do it. Can be a time consuming job and be tough to do if your doing it on the ground instead of doing it on a lift. Engine rebuild kits vary in price depending on what your doing. Felpro gaskets and federal mogal bearings are usally in your basic kits.
