depends on several factors. Iron heads, or aluminum? Knock sensor? Elevation? Camshaft? Torque converter stall if automatic transmission?

416 heads,5 speed tranny, cam I have is a .480 lift with 1.5 but I'm going to be getting 1.6 roller rockers.no electrical connectors on motor,I have a one wire alt and aftermarket gauges(amp, temp, oil)and the tack is hooked up to the aftermarket dist.its not going to be an everyday driver but not a drager, just want the power.

Re: highest comp. ratio on pump gas?

so, you're running 2 threads on this, at the same time, huh? okay. I'm a professional automotive machinist. Here's my take. If you want 400 horses, or even 350, then forget those 305 heads. You could get a new pair of Patriot aluminum heads for $800, assembled, that'll support way past 450 horses.
They are 64cc, and you could run this combo on pump premium. Plus they'll like whatever cam you might want. Power is 90% determined by the heads. You could try to find a better price on E-bay, but those would be used and possibly damaged. A cam that'll get you 5500 with 305 heads would get you 6500 rpm with these or something comparable. Run the 305 heads on your flattop-piston-350 without premium plus octane booster and you'll get broken pistons.
