subtle diference?

ok i'm a little new to the world of third gens, i know a bit about them but what gets me is, what are the differences between the diferent types of camaro, aside from the names
such as:
ss
rs
z28
iroc
and the iroc-z

just what are they made differently to do ect.

Re: subtle diference?

There is no SS third gen
The "RS" trim was basically a trim package atop the base sports coupe and featured either V6 or 5.0 V8 power
Z28 was the top performer most years (except the cpl years there were Z28 and IROC seperately offered i.e. 85, 86 and i think 87) Z28s alway have V8s
IROC and IROCZ are the same thing IROC-Z, which was named after the International Race of Champions usually included a TPI V8 (some were carbed) and basicaly suspension upgrades i believe. someone else will probably expand on this...

Re: subtle diference?

Well when they came out with the RS it replaced the just plain old camaro. Imo and im pretty sure most others will agree id take an RS they look way better and it should be newer then the basic camaro......

Re: subtle diference?

not really rs would be best on engines still more then likely unless the normal camaro is a v8 and the rs is a v6, but if both are v8 then stock for stock the RS should be better

Okay, let's try to clear this up.

Go to the thirdgen.org homepage and look over the Camaro tech data for the various years. They changed stuff too many times over the years to try to make blanket statements.
