350 heads on 305 block?

Would there be any benefit to put a set of 71 350 heads on a 85' 305 215 hp block. I think the heads are 1:94 and 1:50.I'll have carb on the setup from the 84 305 that is in the car now.

IMO, its not really worth it on a stock 305, the bigger chambers will lower your CR and the bigger valves wont do much on a tiny bore stock 305. You'd be better off having your heads ported, especially if there 416's.

Guess what? Your 305 heads flow better than those old 350 heads, even with smaller valves.

Double down-grade - poorer flowing heads, lower compression.

The "right" thing to do would be larger valves in your 305 heads with some port clean-up work (yes, bigger valves will benefit, even with the small bore 305).

five7 my machinest told me the 1.94's dont fit the 3.73 bore of a 305. Is this true? Because I would like to have my 416's cut for 1.94's.

Re: 350 heads on 305 block?

I've seen 305 heads with 1.94 and 1.60 valves in them. Unless what I seen was not indeed a 305 head.

2.02's will fit the bore for mighty big lift #'s. Whether they're effective is a different question.

I had World Torquer 305 heads on my 305 (same ones on the 350 now), and they have 1.94" intake valves.

1.94s are good on 305s
