Re: 91 Camaro Wont START!!!!!!
A 91 will have the VATS antitheft system. If it won't even turn over, there may be a problem with that. Sometimes, the key cylinder on the column gets worn inside and the sensors in it don't read the resistor on the key right, causing the VATS to think the wrong key was inserted. It then tells the ECM which cuts power to the ignition for a few minutes.
Or, the key cylinder was replaced, and has new keys, but the VATS module still has the old resistor value stored in it. The only way I know of to fix this is find out what the value is that it stored and ket a key made with a resistor of that value. Once a VATS module gets a value programmed into it, it can't be changed IIRC.
You can disable it by finding out what the resistor value isand going to an electronics store like Radio Shack and getting a matching value resistor and solder it into the VATS wiring, so it thinks it has the right key. You'll have to do a search on how to do this; I've never done it but read about it a few times.
If the VATS is working correctly, it could be the ignition switch, starter solenoid, starter, oil pressure switch (I think if the ECM doesn't recognize it when you turn the key or get any pressure readings when cranking, it won't let the engine start), or maybe the neutral safety switch on a manual car ot the automatic gear selector that's mounted on the shifter. If either of those two is bad, the ECM will think the car is in gear and won't let the engine crank.

If the engine wont turn over replacing the cap and coil wont help the situation.
Also, if you have a 305 that has been bored to a 383 you may have other problems.
