help...damper issue

92 350 tbi- original balancer spin so i bought a new one. installed it and now timing mark does not line up to 0* on the indicator when motor is at TDC. whats going on?

Probably got one for an earlier engine. The timing tab (Saw blade) is further to the drivers side on earlier engines. I believe that you can get a decorative cover for a newer engine.

Or you could get a degree wheel and re-mark the one you have. Or return it and get the correct one.

Also, did you use the correct tool to install it. If you use a hammer to install it you can damage it.

i used the correct tool, no hammers here. are you saying that on a 92 the timing indicator is not at the 2 oclock position?

No, not on a TBI engine. It's at 12:00 right behind the water pump. I still have the factory original dampener off a 92 RS 305 TBI motor and it's a 12:00 position dampener.

TPI engines used the more typical 1:30 position dampener I believe, however. Same years, different engines, different position dampeners.

ok cause i think my motor came out of a 93 1500 chevy pickup 350 and the timing cover is set up for 1:30 indicator. Can I just get a balancer for the 1:30 position cover?
