Changed starter, now no power?

1990 camaro Iroc-z 5.7 liter

Just changed starter today, and had the battery unplugged the whole time (about 3 hours because it was my first time...)

I put the battery back in after a charge, which the multimeter read 12.7 volts, and the car had absolutely no power. no inside lights, no headlights, the ign wouldn't make any sound or lights when turning.

Anybody got an idea?

Cables hooked up to the starter and engine correctly? Clean connections?

I put two bigger wires onto one post on the solenoid, and a smaller wire onto another smaller post. I believe the connections are secure.

I did see another wire down there that wasn't connected to anything, I think it was black and had a open wire coming out the end that looked like a very small clothespin... if that helps.

Re: Changed starter, now no power?

There is a connection from the ground terminal at battery to the alternator bracket, so I don't think grounding is a problem.

Though, there is no continuity between the alt. bracket and the dome light ground. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

You missed the wire that powers the car.

It goes to the same starter solenoid terminal as the battery cable.

Thanks, ill take a look after this rain is done.. maybe a couple days.

I guess I might have forgotten to connect one of the larger cables, or one slipped out (its a bit hard to see down there)
