T/A starts, and dies...runs only after couple tries.
I went outside to start the T/A and like usual it took 3-4 tries to get it running. It would die after a few seconds, but after the 4th time it would stay running and I could rev it, etc. What is the problem?

Check the key on fuel pressure. It should jump up to 40+ (for a TPI) and hold it pretty steady. If it bleeds off much at all you have a fuel leak inside the tank. Been there,done that. Another way to tell is to cycle the key on/off,back on for a few seconds and back off,repeat again. If it starts up easier it's an internal leak.

Put the pressure tester back on the fuel rail and crank the car over while watching the pressure. See if it jumps up more as the car starts.

The car starts at 60 and then works its way to 40 then 30 then hovers there...

60 sounds high to me but I'm not real familiar with the TPI's. I know 30 is low. Did you try the key on/off thing several times? If you have another TPI car see what it does.

My other car is a 305 TPI and stays at 55-60 all day.

I bet you have a leak inside the tank. My 97 did almost the same thing. There was a flexible hose going from the pump to the hard line and the bracket rubbed a hole in it. Once I replaced the hose the car starts great.

There are two ways to fix it. One is to remove the tank and pull the pump out that way. The other is to cut an hole in the rear deck under the carpet and pull it out. Thats what I did on my 97 and it took just a little over an hour to do the whole thing. If you want to pull the tank go to an auto parts store and get a manual to guide you. You should be able to do this. Make sure the tank is low either way if you can.
